Installation
For testing, OpenOffice-Enterprise can be installed on a client computer by simply double-clicking on the .msi file. This version replaces all prior versions, and the installer should automatically uninstall any prior version if installed. The client software can be cleanly uninstalled by running the .msi a second time.
For network installation using Group Policy, see the OpenOffice-Enterprise Users' Manual. To upgrade from a prior version using Group Policy, see Upgrading OpenOffice-Enterprise.
Under Terminal Server, simply install on each server by double-clicking on the .msi file. Alternately, the client software can be administratively installed on the Terminal Server machines using Group Policy, as described above.
Operation
Installing OpenOffice-Enterprise automatically applies a baseline enterprise configuration to OpenOffice. If these settings are sufficient, no further action is needed by the system administrator. Alternately, all of the settings in OpenOffice, including the base configuration applied by OpenOffice-Enterprise, can be overridden administratively. The baseline settings are further described below at Baseline Configuration.
To control OpenOffice settings using Group Policy, follow the instructions at http://OpenOfficeTechnology.com/OpenOffice-Enterprise/Server_Installation.
To control OpenOffice settings using Local Policy, run gpedit.msc and load the OpenOffice-Enterprise .adm files as described at http://OpenOfficeTechnology.com/node/38 and http://OpenOfficeTechnology.com/node/46.
To control OpenOffice settings using the Windows registry or NTConfig.POL, please contact us.
